Our Story
Chef Năm Hứa began her culinary journey in Vietnam, where she opened her first sandwich shop and discovered her passion for feeding her community. After moving to the U.S., she joined Luby’s and quickly rose through the ranks, managing several restaurants before realizing her dream of opening her own. In 2006, alongside her family, she founded Năm Hứa — which soon became a beloved local favorite, earning praise from the Dallas Morning News and a loyal following.
Rooted in her Vietnamese heritage and inspired by the comforting warmth of Southern cooking, Chef Năm Hứa created a unique dining experience that blends vibrant South Asian flavors with the soulful heart of Southern cuisine. Her dedication to nourishing her community extended beyond the restaurant walls — she has long catered meals for retirement centers and temples, a tradition she still keeps every week. This commitment inspired her to launch a vegetarian buffet featuring fragrant vegetable broth-based soups, inventive plant-based dishes, and fresh seasonal fruits, all crafted with care and creativity.
In 2021, Chef Năm Hứa and her family proudly passed the torch to Chef Thong and his family, ensuring Nam Hua’s familiar family charm and culinary spirit live on. Today, Chef Năm Hứa remains at the heart of the restaurant’s evolving flavors — developing new recipes, curating the signature taste profile, and delighting her fans through pop-ups and special events.
Under Chef Thong’s leadership, the Năm Hứa team continues to honor this legacy — blending South Asian roots with Southern soul food traditions, growing and preparing many of their ingredients in-house, cooking each dish with patience and respect, and serving delicious options for all. Together, they keep the spirit of Nam Hua alive — nourishing the community with food made from the heart.
